Lead Chromate Replacement - Old Hat but Still a Long Process
In PCI Magazine - by Jürgen Ott, Ph.D. and Thomas Sowade, Ph.D., Heubach GmbH, Langelsheim, Germany
Recently Heubach published an article in the Paints & Coatings Industry Magazine describing various smart combinations of organic and inorganic pigments replacing lead chromates and molybdate reds. The consumption of lead chromates and molybdate reds has already significantly shrunken over the past years. The further replacement in paints and coatings is technically possible, even if the right approach is tricky and the first trials may not result in a suitable alternative directly and some additional work may be necessary.
